Faint burning smell on EMS900 speakers

Has anyone else noticed this?  I just took them out of the box and hooked them up.

There is a protective film on the connectors that is place there to prevent damage during shipping and unboxing.  Could you make sure all of that film has been removed?

Oh, I didn't take off any of that film.  I just pushed the wires right through the film.  Let me try that and see if it makes a difference.

Yes!  The film turned out to be the problem.  Thanks for the help.
